Handheld Marine GPS – Garmin Oregon 400C Product Review

There are several Handheld Marine GPS offered by Garmin, one of it is Garmin Oregon 400c. This handy device will put marine travelling fun at your hand. What are advantages of this handheld marine GPS series? Powerful BlueChart G2 charts, hi sensitivity receiver, touch screen user interface, electronic compass, barometric altimeter, USB port,  and SD card slot are all you can get from this device.

Ok let’s talk about the display. Garmin Oregon 400C handheld marine GPS is equipped with a color and sunlight readable with 3” diagonal screen. It means that you will be able to see the BlueChart G2 coastal charts and worldwide base map comfortably. What details are offered through this device? Well you will get shorelines, depth contours, marinas, harbors, and more for the U.S. and Bahamas. With this device in your hand, you will spend less time searching for information during your outdoor activity.

If you want to share our routes, geo caches, or waypoints with your friend through this Handheld Marine GPS, all you need to do is touch the SEND command, as long as your friends are use the Garmin Colorado or Oregon too. This has made sharing information is as easy as a touch.

How about the updateability and sensitivity of this Handheld Marine GPS? I found that both features in this device are awesome. We can upload a GPX file to this unit and start searching for some caches, or if you have a pre loaded SD card you can use it to update the map. In sensitivity areas, thanks to HotFix and WAAS enabled receiver that has made positioning precise and quick enough. No matter where you are, whether in deep forest or canyon, you can always find your way.

After all the pros above, what are the cons of this Handheld Marine GPS? I think there are 3 weaknesses of this product: premium price, there are several models with different maps that may leads confuse to potential buyer, No voice directions or commands makes it difficult enough for driving applications.
